This event is run by the Rotary Club of Albury North, in partnership with the SS&A Club Albury and The Murray Conservatorium. The aim of the event is to raise funds for the “Wewak Street School MUSIC-ABILITY program”. The program provides music tuition for Wewak students for 12 months.
Our special guest Choral Conductor will once again be the renowned, Jonathon Welch, which we are very excited about. (There was an overwhelming response on our survey from 2018 participants to have Jonathon return for a second year.
In 2019 the festival will take a slightly different format opening up the opportunity for a wider cross section of the community to be involved.
Friday will be held in schools with The Murray Conservatorium engaging school choirs in a program in the weeks leading up to the weekend and culminating in massed choir sessions and masterclasses under the baton of Jonathon on 2nd August. There will be a concert performance on the Friday afternoon.
Friday night will be a Public Choir event at St Ives Hotel with the general public invited to come along to participate in the massed choir. There will be competitions and lots of fun activities planned. At this stage Jonathon Welch will not be involved in this event, but will probably attend and officiate in some capacity.
Saturday 3rd August will see a similar format to last year where choirs or individuals interested in singing, whether part of a choir or not, can book in for the whole day and attend the massed choir workshop, watch any or all of the masterclass sessions and perform in the concert.
Masterclasses can be arranged for individuals, small groups or choirs
