    • Planning of the 2021 BORDER CHORAL VOICE has hit a brick wall

      😭

Our BCV events held in August 2018 and 2019 were a HUGE success. The 2020 and 2021 events weren't held due to COVID-19 and sadly we will probably not hold an event again in 2022

    • UPDATE - 4th September 2021

Due to COVID 19 Border Choral Voice is currently unable to plan any choral activities , BUT...that shouldn't stop you singing!!

Over this next week Astrid Jorgensen from "Pub Choir" fame is running another ISO Couch Choir. This opens up a great opportunity for singers and choirs, who are unable to get together personally, to continue to sing. The song this time is "You're the Voice" and for those who were involved in Border Choral Voice a couple of years ago will remember it was a song our choir master, Jonathon Welch, taught us. Here's the link...have a go. 🎤 🎵 🎶 🎼 😀

Border Choral Voice is a great inspirational community weekend event for those who love to sing, but its main aim was to raise money to fund a "Musicability" program for our local Wewak School. Due to COVID 19 it has been on hold during 2020 and 2021 and it appears we may not even be able to plan an event in 2022.
How we go forward remains to be seen, but the Rotary Club of Albury North is dedicated to supporting Wewak, if not through Border Choral Voice, at least through other avenues.

“Jonathon is a truly gifted, passionate and engaging conductor, professional and very practical. I have been privileged to participate in two of his workshop programmes, both locally and for the Melbourne International Singers Festival. My then 12 year old daughter and I did a wonderful workshop with Jonathon in Wodonga a few years ago when he toured with his Choir of Hard Knocks. It was an inspiring experience on so many levels and served to further spark her and my love of singing. From start to finish he shared helpful and very insightful tips and exercises for getting the best sound from the workshop participants. Our unforgettable Melbourne International Festival experience was truly amazing: Jonathon expertly taught plus organised other talented conductors who, together led the massed choirs at Fed Square for rehearsal and then wonderful concert performances. We’ll be back for more from this fabulous musical legend- don’t miss out Albury singers!”

      Catherine, a former workshop participant

I am a long time admirer of Jonathon’s work and have not only been inspired to use some of his material and song choices with my students in various schools but also enjoyed his appearances and critiques on ‘Battle of the Choirs’ years ago! I have travelled to Melbourne to see a concert in the Melb Town Hall to hear the fabulous Choir of Hard Knocks and totally admire his work.
